The Peoria Unified School District held a groundbreaking ceremony on its 33rd elementary school the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 21. Guests parked at the City of Peoria's Sunrise Mountain Library located at 21109 N. 98th Ave., just north of Lake Pleasant Parkway, at 7:15 a.m. and took the shuttle bus to the groundbreaking site. The groundbreaking ceremony began at 7:30 a.m. and brought in a large group of spectators. Following the groundbreaking ceremony, guests went back to Sunrise Mountain Library at 7:45 a.m. where they were able to view renderings of the new school.
The new school has a name!
At the Governing Board Meeting on October 22, Peoria Unified Board Members approved the name of the district's 33rd elementary school. The new name of the school is Sunset Heights Elementary School!

During the August 13, 2013 Board Meeting, Board Members received a presentation on the progress of construction on Elementary School #33 which included an update on the Guaranteed Maximum Pricing (GMP) of the school. The presentation shared during the Board Meeting is available here.
